Marlins and Cetaceans Expedition in Magdalena Bay
Magdalena Bay
Description
Wildlife expeditions in Magdalena Bay
Every fall, giant sardine and mackerel bait balls congregate miles off the coast of Magdalena Bay, while in turn, the Striped Marlin migration occurs along the west coasts of Baja, coinciding and creating one of the most amazing spectacles and well kept secrets of Baja and Mexico.
During the months of October, November and December, we will carry out snorkeling and freedive expeditions to interact with these species, as well as many others that migrate through the area or seek to feed together with the Marlins of the bait balls.
Together with us, you will be able to immerse yourself and see this spectacle of nature in first row, while you will help to promote the conservation of the species through a sustainable tourism operation. You will find that all the details that we have carefully supervised of this expedition, go hand in hand with the conservation of our seas by avoiding our consumption of plastics, educating our clients and sharing with the rest of the world the importance of each species.
The striped marlin (Kajikia audax) is an epipelagic species which can measure up to 3.5 m in total length and reach a weight of 200 kg. They can be observed in the Pacific and Indian oceans. In the Eastern Pacific Ocean it is found from Chile to southern California, being on the Mexican coasts where the greatest abundance of this species occurs.
Imagine being in the water with these fish, one of the fastest in the ocean, working together with other predators such as tuna, sea lions, sharks, whales and even killer whales to feed on these huge bait balls.
Each day at sea (approximately 8 hours) will consist of looking for as much action as possible in open water with the species that we can find along the way, what we call a Marine Safari.
Get ready for this expedition and keep your eyes wide open, with your fins and mask on, as every second at sea, unexpected moments may occur. Especially in this unique and magical place; from congregations with thousands of dolphins, killer whales, mobulas, whales, shark action and much, much more!

December 2024
Diving instructions and the location itself in Cozumel were amazing. We've spent an hour discussing our dive on shore and once we gotten underwater and passed safety checks, there was a pure enjoyment of dive for next ~hour or so. Daniel Lomonaco, if you're reading this, just know that you're so much better than an average instructor.

Very attentive and excellent instructors. I was able to leave my dog in their care while we went on the boat.
