Cenote Maravilla + Hell Bells
Playa del Carmen
Description
The Riviera Maya has the largest underground water system in the world.
Cenotes are systems of flooded caves formed by crystalline underground rivers typical of the region. In these fresh waters, you will find a great amount of biodiversity as well as stalactites, stalagmites, marine fossils, gas clouds (sulfuric acid) and haloclines (mix of salt water with fresh water), with a visibility of more than 50 meters.
Cenote Zapote is one of a kind. This cenote gets its name from the zapote trees that grow near the striking entrance into the jungle.
From the surface, it might seem like just another cenote in the Yucatan Peninsula, surrounded by the impressive jungle, this attractive well of crystalline water and exuberant plants does not reveal anything of the amazing formations called Hell’s Bells that are inside.
You will make a dive under the blue and transparent water that will show landscapes and unusual structures, diving to the depth of the cavern, you will find an incredible decoration of stalactites up to two meters long, open conical, hollow and with round cross sections , elliptical or horseshoe-shaped.
Unique underwater structures with an extraterrestrial appearance that it is unknown what caused them or why they are not found anywhere else and that scientists are still studying, which give the cenote its other name "Hell Bells".
The second dive will be in the Cenote Maravilla, it is a gem which is distinguished by being the ideal place to dive into the deepest part of the Earth.
It has an approximate depth of 60 meters and a diameter of more than 90 meters.
In the upper part, there is a large opening hole where the sunlight will offer you one of the most impressive blue-green light shows similar to a surreal painting and will guide you through these blue waters and you will be able to observe a diversity of Bell-shaped stalactites as well as a mysterious hydrogen cloud that gives the cenote that mystical atmosphere.
The cenotes are a singular point of attraction and a must for any diver. Live this magical and unforgettable experience!

Very responsive on what’sapp and gave clear information on the tour and how to get there. The place is very pretty! The tour guide and the boat captain were friendly. We had 4 stops in our snorkel tour as planned. Visibility was not great , but it was still amazing. I hope to go back for scuba diving one day. I also liked that they keep things real: (1) do not try to sell things that may not happen (due to nature), (2) they do not put additional fees - what they tell you is what you pay (very different than other tours I have seen around Los Cabos) One point to highlight is that the boat is small, so if the ocean is rough it may not be the best for people that get sea sickness.
