Private round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal, and Tulum. Simply choose your date, share your hotel name or address, and get ready for an unforgettable encounter with these gentle giants.
Every season, whale sharks—who can grow up to 12 meters long—visit this area of the Mexican Caribbean to feed. You will have the opportunity to observe them and swim alongside them in their natural habitat, with the possibility of spotting other wildlife such as dolphins or giant manta rays.
After an approximately 50-minute boat ride, we will reach the feeding area. Depending on the day’s conditions, we will spend around 2.5 to 3 hours searching for and swimming with whale sharks.
To protect the species and comply with current regulations, water entries are done in pairs and always accompanied by a certified guide. On average, each pair has two opportunities to enter the water, although this may vary depending on sea conditions, whale shark activity, and the dynamics in the area.
As this is a private tour, the boat will be exclusively for your group. Ground transportation is also private, allowing you to depart from and return directly to your hotel without sharing transfers with other travelers.
Your experience includes a light breakfast, personalized guidance, complete snorkeling equipment, and a delicious ceviche stop at Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres.
**What are the best dates for the 2026 season?**
The official whale shark season in Isla Mujeres operates from May 15 to September 17.
Historically, June, July, and August tend to offer the highest concentrations of whale sharks and the best overall conditions for the experience.
**Is whale shark sighting guaranteed?**
Yes. We offer a whale shark sighting guarantee from June 1 to August 31.
However, this is a wildlife experience in the open ocean, and the number of whale sharks can vary from day to day. On rare occasions, when only a few animals are present in the area, authorities may limit or prevent swimming in order to ensure a responsible and sustainable interaction with the species.
In that case, you may still observe the whale sharks from the boat and enjoy the experience of seeing them in their natural environment.
In the rare event that no whale sharks are sighted, you may join another tour within the next two years, paying only the marine park fee.

Reef snorkeling. If the nearby reef does not show enough marine life and it is not considered a good experience, the captain and guide will decide whether to do the snorkel or if it is better to head to Playa Norte.

• If you cancel less than 24 hours before or do not show up, 100% of the reservation will be charged.
• In the event that weather or sea conditions do not allow the activity to take place, you will be notified one day before to either reschedule or request a full refund.
• Please note: changes due to rain or minor weather conditions on the day of the tour do not qualify for rescheduling or refund unless the operator determines that the tour must be cancelled for safety reasons.

Incredible experience... I was hoping to swim with mobula rays, which didn't happen, but I had other amazing experiences like seeing sperm whales and swimming with sharks, which I wasn't expecting! I dared to go in with my son because Mateo, our guide, made us feel very safe... We'll definitely have to come back next year to look for them! Excellent experience 😍🤩
