Whale Sharks + 1 Dive In Espiritu Santo Island

La Paz

From USD 220/person

Description

La Paz is one of the rare, privileged places in the world where you can encounter the ocean's largest fish—the magnificent whale shark!

Are you ready for one of the most extraordinary experiences of your life? Join us to swim alongside these gentle giants and follow it up with an unforgettable dive at Espíritu Santo Island.

We'll take you to the Whale Shark Sanctuary, where you'll have the chance to snorkel with these majestic creatures. Whale sharks have been roaming the Earth for an astonishing 60 million years! They can grow up to 18 feet long and weigh over 25 tons. These gentle giants gather in specific locations worldwide at certain times of the year to feed, and the stunning bay of La Paz is one of those unique spots where you can swim with them. Despite their size, whale sharks are harmless, feeding mainly on plankton and occasionally on small fish.

After your incredible encounter with the whale sharks, you'll prepare for a dive at Los Islotes in Espíritu Santo Island.

Los Islotes are two islets or large rocks which one is a natural arch. There lives a very rich marine life as well as a colony of over 400 seals. Throughout the year you can enjoy the incredible experience of diving with them. They are very playful and love to interact with divers. Diving in the islets is an amazing experience not to be missed!

Diving under the arch is a magical moment where usually sea lions concentrate; stop for a while to admire the sea lions and the wonderful coral walls.

It is important to book in advance in order to guarantee getting a slot and entering the Whale Shark Sanctuary, as there is currently a very established code of conduct in place whereby only a limited number of boats can be in the area for a two hour period, and the authorities have access to the real-time position of each of these boats.

Diving instructions and the location itself in Cozumel were amazing. We've spent an hour discussing our dive on shore and once we gotten underwater and passed safety checks, there was a pure enjoyment of dive for next ~hour or so. Daniel Lomonaco, if you're reading this, just know that you're so much better than an average instructor.

Very attentive and excellent instructors. I was able to leave my dog in their care while we went on the boat.
